This immersive course introduces students to the history and foundations of Hoodoo while exploring traditional beliefs, spiritual practices, herbs, roots, candles, spiritual baths, protection work, ancestral traditions, divination, and everyday forms of folk magic.

Students will learn how Hoodoo developed through the blending and preservation of African spiritual traditions with Indigenous, European, and Christian influences in the Americas. The course emphasizes cultural context, historical understanding, respectful practice, and the importance of approaching Hoodoo as a living tradition rather than simply a collection of magical techniques.
