Muggle Studies

Psychology, Human Behavior & the Witchcraft Connection

Because apparently understanding humans requires an entire field of study. Who knew?

Witches have spent centuries studying energy, ritual, symbolism, intuition, behavior, and the mysterious ways people interact with the world around them.

Psychologists have been doing something remarkably similar—just with fewer candles.

Muggle Studies takes a fascinating look at the five foundational pillars of psychology and explores how they help us understand the way humans think, feel, behave, develop, and interact with the world around them.

Throughout the course, we’ll explore each of the five pillars individually, examining what it tells us about human behavior and why it matters.

We’ll look at:

🧠 Biological Psychology — the brain, nervous system, hormones, genetics, and the physical foundations of behavior.

💭 Cognitive Psychology — thoughts, perception, memory, attention, learning, and the way we interpret our experiences.

❤️ Behavioral Psychology — conditioning, habits, reinforcement, learned behaviors, and why we keep doing the things we swear we’re going to stop doing.

👤 Developmental Psychology — how humans change throughout their lives and how childhood, experiences, relationships, and environment can shape us.

👥 Social Psychology — relationships, groups, social influence, identity, conformity, communication, and the fascinating things humans do when other humans are around.

And Then We Get Witchy.

The final portion of the course brings psychology and witchcraft together.

We’ll explore how these psychological concepts can help us understand ritual, magical practice, symbolism, belief, intention, intuition, altered states of consciousness, divination, shadow work, and the psychological experience of witchcraft.

Why does ritual feel powerful?

Why do symbols affect us so deeply?

Why can repeating an action change how we feel?

How does expectation influence experience?

What happens when we give meaning to an object, action, or ceremony?

And perhaps most importantly:

Where does psychology end and witchcraft begin?

We’re not going to claim that psychology “proves” magic.

We’re also not going to pretend that witches haven’t been observing human behavior for a very, very long time.

Instead, we’ll explore the fascinating overlap between the two—while keeping the science separate from spiritual interpretation.

Because understanding the psychology behind a ritual doesn’t necessarily make the ritual less meaningful.

Sometimes, understanding why something affects us can make the experience even more fascinating.

Come study the Muggles.

They’re considerably stranger than we give them credit for.

Cancellations are accepted 48 hours in advance.
